As Salaamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakthu,

As the Principal of Australian International Islamic College, it is my honour to welcome you to the Australian International Islamic College.

The staff at AIIC create a loving, nurturing and supportive environment where students can feel both free and supported to develop spiritually and academically.

As the Principal of the Australian International Islamic College I know that excellence is not simply achieved in the classroom; rather our students strive for excellence culturally, spiritually, through service to their community as well as in their scolastic pursuits. We aim to produce global citizens, who can be responsive to their changing world because of the firm foundations we have embedded.

A comment that I once heard was that, “teaching is not a career choice, rather it is a lifestyle choice” – a choice I will continue to embrace.

As Salaamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakthu,

I am originally from the UK and graduated with my first degree in 1985. In 1990 I studied for a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification before moving to Jakarta, Indonesia as a newly wed. I taught ESL for 3 years before starting a family and spent another 5½ years living in Jakarta until we emigrated to Australia in 1998.

Prior to embarking on my formal teaching career, I was a stay at home mum to our 4 children. From this experience I gained an awareness of children’s needs and development; and entered early childhood teaching with a transformed idea of how children learn and the potential every child has. This breadth of experience led me to develop a strong belief that children learn best when they are having fun and are engaged in practical, real life activities. As an early childhood educator, it is the teacher’s primary responsibility to create an appropriate environment for learning and provide the spark that allows children to develop naturally.

I commenced teaching at the Australian International Islamic College in 2006 as the preschool teacher (3 days per week) and also as the ESL Coordinator (2 days per week). When the Preparatory year was introduced full-time in Queensland in 2007, I spearheaded the set up and development of the Prep curriculum which at that time followed the Early Years Curriculum Guidelines. I joined Independent Schools Queensland’s Prep network of teachers to enhance my knowledge and develop my practice.

Throughout my time at AIIC, I have been proactive in the development of College programs and taken on Positions of Additional Responsibility (PAR) including ESL Coordinator, Lower Primary Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinator (P-6) and now my role as Head of Primary.

I am directly supported in my role by a strong team of dedicated teachers including the Lower Primary Coordinator, Upper Primary Coordinator, support staff, Imams, Administrators and the Principal. I believe that strong relationships with parents and the wider community are vital to the continued growth of our College and in the development of each and every student at AIIC.

The Australian International Islamic College promotes cultural tolerance, compassion towards others and living harmoniously within the community. We have 3 campuses located in Durack, Brisbane City, and on the Gold Coast.

Here at the Australian International Islamic College (AIIC), we understand the importance of education in all aspects of life. The students are constantly excelling in school, and extra-curricular activities. These achievements are proudly showcased at our Monday morning assemblies. AIIC also encourages our students – and their parents – to take part in after-hours events hosted on campus such as; Kindy/College open days, Jalsa (community sitting) nights, Eid celebrations, Family Fun Night, Fete and much more! The volume of student participation in these events paves the way for a deep-seeded sense of community spirit in your child.

AIIC also understands that each child is unique. Through our comprehensive Learning Support program, we ensure each child receives the assistance and support. The combined efforts of the teachers, and their support staff, are aimed at promoting a profound sense of personal growth in your child. This level of personal growth helps to promote a greater sense of self-esteem within your child. Education in this world whilst important, is only half the journey for the young Islamic leaders of tomorrow. We ensure they never lose touch with their Islamic heritage through; daily morning supplications, a comprehensive Islamic curriculum, and daily Zuhr prayers.

The Australian International Islamic College’s City campus, is conveniently placed in close proximity to shopping villages, the P.A. Hospital, public transport, and the CBD. With AIIC’s convenient door to door bus service, we can safely transport your child to and from this central location. The small class sizes at City Campus allow our teachers to gain valuable insight toward your child’s learning abilities. The teachers then use this insight to provide their students with a deeper level of understanding for certain concepts.

With a dedicated and knowledgeable teaching staff, city campus works closely with the main campus to complete the educational experience. Using the school’s transport fleet, our students often take excursions to the main campus for extra learning resources. This ensures your child will receive the fullest amount of resources our school has to offer no matter which campus they call home.

Durack

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur

AIIC’s main campus is located at Durack, and is spread out over a substantial 30-acre land mass. With ample room to grow, AIIC is proud to announce that several new buildings have been erected over the past few years to accommodate growing numbers, and provide our students with the very best to offer. For your convenience, Durack campus operates a door to door bus service for year levels from Prep – Year 12.

Enhanced School Zone Signage

The Australian International Islamic College has been selected for inclusion in Council’s 2019-20 Enhanced School Zone Signage program.

The Enhanced School Zone Signage program aims to improve safety for students, parents and carers travelling to and from school and assist in raising awareness of reduced speed limits in school zones at peak school times.

Through the program, Council will install flashing ‘School Zone’ signs and painted ‘School Zone’ thresholds on Blunder Road approaches to the Australian International Islamic College.

Council officers have undertaken an assessment of the road network surrounding the school to develop an implementation plan.

On the evening of Saturday 15th June 2013, the Australian International Islamic College held its annual Family Fun Night.  The annual event is a chance for students, parents, teachers and members of the community to come and enjoy a meal together and catch up with friends and colleagues, both past and present.Alhamdulillah, this year our annual dinner was a wonderful success.  There was a formal program consisting of Nasheeds, Science Experiments, an Islamic and general knowledge quiz and, of course, the very popular Lucky Draw.

The evening took place in the Multi-purpose hall, which was filled to capacity, Mashallah!   Also on display was a beautiful Art Exhibition of student work as well as a textile display from our Home Economics students.  A variety of stall holders and rides for the children ensured young and old were entertained on the night.

The Lucky Draw took place several times during the program and kept everyone excitedly checking their tickets to see if they had won a prize.  A big thank you must go to all our sponsors who were kind enough to donate vouchers and items for the Lucky Draw.  A big shout out goes to: Nandos Mt. Gravatt, Bliss Skin Care Centre, Lezzet Restaurant, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Phoenix Cards and Mrs Muncaster.

It was indeed wonderful to see so many of our students who have come to Australia from new migrant and refugee backgrounds enjoy themselves in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you to all those who helped make the event an enjoyable and successful evening.  Inshaallah, we’ll see you again next year!
